Signs Your Website Needs a Redesign

Websites don't announce that they're failing you. They fail silently — one lost customer at a time, while you're busy running the business. Here are the signs it's time to stop patching and start over.

1. You cringe when you look at it

That's not vanity; it's data. If your own website makes you wince, imagine what it does to a customer who doesn't know or love you yet. Your website is your handshake. If the handshake is weak, the conversation starts badly.

2. It doesn't work on a phone

More than half of your visitors are on a phone, and for many businesses it's closer to 80%. If your site requires pinch-zooming, has buttons you can't tap, or loads slowly on mobile, you're telling mobile customers you don't want their business. This one is non-negotiable — see why mobile design matters.

3. It's slow

Every second of load time costs you visitors. People expect a site to feel instant; a slow site reads as "this business doesn't care" — even when the truth is just old technology, huge images, or a cheap host.

4. It doesn't answer the questions customers actually ask

Walk through it like a first-time customer: Can they tell what you do in five seconds? Can they find your hours, your menu, your prices, your phone number? Do they know what to do next? If the answers are "no", the site isn't doing its job, no matter how it looks.

5. There's no clear next step

A website's only real job is to move visitors toward action — calling, booking, ordering, requesting a quote. If your site ends at "contact us" buried in the footer, visitors reach the end of the page and leave. That's not a website; that's a brochure with a dead end.

6. It's from another era

If your site predates the iPhone in spirit — Flash-era animations, "click here for our mobile site", stock photos of people shaking hands — customers date it immediately. A dated website makes a good business look dated.

7. You can't update it yourself

If changing a price or adding a menu item requires calling someone and waiting weeks, your website is a bottleneck. Modern sites are built so content changes are fast — by you, or by a maintenance plan that handles it for you.

The good news

A redesign isn't starting from zero. You keep your domain, your content, your customers — we rebuild around what your site should actually do: represent you well and turn visitors into customers. See what that looks like in our portfolio.
